A photograph of this still-head is shown on the left. It consists of a 19" length of 38 mm o.d. glass tubing containing the stream-splitter connected to the outside world by a precision Teflon/glass needle-valve. This needle-valve can control the amount of reflux from zero to 100%. A thermometer port allows the insertion of the mercury/glass thermometer supplied or a digital thermometer if you have one. The copper cooling coil can be seen inside the glass housing. A machined brass compression fitting is provided for attaching the bottom of the still-head to the top of a 1 ½" diameter copper column. The glass tube slips inside the top of the column and is tightened and sealed there with the compression nut.
